our history

About 12 years ago, a few friends, including founding member Monica Mejia, participated in the Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade Parade and WON!

We entered as the Tutu Live Krewe the second year, and it stuck! Fast-forward about 5 years, and much contemplation -- I grew increasingly inspired by New Orleans all-female marching krewes and I knew we had to bring a marching krewe to Galveston Mardi Gras.

So, what’s a girl to do?

She buys an internet domain, develops logo and costume ideas, and then gathers a few of her closest friends to go on a WILD RIDE! I mean, the wildest of rides.

What started with an inspiration turned into something special. The women who join this krewe do it strictly for themselves, and what greater accomplishment is that?

It is not always easy, but it is always worth it. I can never fully express my gratitude to each person who has contributed to this krewe, but THANK YOU. And I look forward to dancing with you.
